Spencer Rattler Named MVP Of The Reese's Senior BowlThe former South Carolina football star shined on the field in Mobile on Saturday and earned MVP honors for his efforts. It has been a pretty good seven-day period for Spencer Rattler. After going through several practices down in Mobile, AL with players that Rattler had never played a down of organized football with outside of receiver Xavier Legette, the Arizona native was voted the best quarterback on the American team by opposing defenders. He also earned praise from several respectable names in the NFL scouting and analysis community.

In the game, quarterback Spencer Rattler was solid at home again completing 71 percent of his passes for 399 yards. He tossed two touchdowns and one interception on the afternoon, and crossed the 10,000-yard mark for his career.

Rattler, a 6-1, 217-pound redshirt senior from Phoenix, Ariz., completed 18-of-20 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. He added 43 yards rushing in the contest on eight carries. Rattler connected with Xavier Legette on 76- and 75-yard scoring plays and led touchdown drives of 98 and 99 yards. It was just the second time in school history that Carolina connected on two passes of 75 yards or more in the same game.

Rattler, a 6-1, 217-pounder from Phoenix, Ariz., completed 25-of-27 passes (92.6 pct.) for 345 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a fourth TD in the Gamecocks’ 47-21 win over Furman, the sixth-ranked team in the FCS. Rattler completed his first 15 passes in the contest and had TD passes of 36, 7 and 42 yards against the Paladins. He was at his best at the end of the first half when he led Carolina on a three-play, 75-yard scoring drive in 20 seconds with no timeouts, leaving just three seconds on the clock.
